Hello Spartan Runners,
Our final day of the week is tomorrow @ 7am! We will not do a mile warm-up, core exercise, or strides but will stretch together after the run.
Our run will be an out-and-back, behind JPL and up the trail. There are four instances where you will need to cross a stream. I ran up this trail on Tuesday and there are rocks that have been well-position for safe crossing. Still, you will want to walk across the stream. Do not attempt to run over the rocks as it could be a good way to roll your ankle.
The following map will show an 8-mile route. To do this you will go to the second bridge that comes after the main campsite. However, for the Varsity Boys, you can go to the first bridge after the campsite. That'll give you your scheduled 7.5 miles. It's difficult to see the trail from the satellite map but if you just stay on the main track, you shouldn't get lost. The campsite is 3 miles out for a 6-mile round-trip. This might be a good place for many of you to turn around. The ranger station drinking fountain is a 4-mile round-trip. I will probably go a mile past the 2nd bridge but will be back at school 70 minutes after I start. This will give you plenty of time to do a nice slow and easy run. We will then stretch after the run.
