2009 Rio Hondo League Champions!!!!
...and nearly everyone (JV included) improved their CV Park times! See the updated CV Course Analysis.
So...Here's what I think:
You Varsity ladies found yourselves with your backs against the proverbial WALL!
Leading up to this race, you came in with 2 RHL victories under your belts. You won those fairly handily. The rest of the league knew you had it in the bag. All you needed to do was maintain your positions one more time--right? How hard could that be? Heck, you've been accustomed to running 1,2 (4 or 5), 8 and 19 against South Pas., TC, etc...all season--virtually the same score for races #1 and #2. Should be a slam-dunk...right? Nothing can go wrong? (next we hear the sound of a car coming to a shreaking halt)
Hey, if something can go wrong, it usually does--Murphy's Law-right?
But today you were ready to handle it! Your performance today proved to me that taking the league title outright was the objective regardless of our setbacks.
Highlights:
I am extremely proud of all your performances out there today. Some of you didn't have your best race, and some of you didn't race at all; but still, you should all be proud of how far you've come this season, the relationships you've developed, the fitness you've gained and the personal records you've achieved. Of course, it's not all about winning the race. The season is over for most of you and it's been a long haul dating back to June 23rd. And I hope to see the JV runners back again next June to start it all over again. Stay tuned to this blog as we will announce the team party in a few weeks time.
But, first, we still have CIF for the following runners:
Holly, Meghan, Gabrielle, Sonja, Diana, Skye, Goldie--(Alternates: Michelle and Karen)
See you tomorrow for our easy 5 miler--Viro 5--no need for a map!

- You ran with PRIDE!
- You ran like a TEAM!
- You ran SMART and with SELF-CONTROL!
- And most important of all...YOU RACED--TO WIN!!
- Holly--you ran like a champion...and became one!
- Meghan--you are the Queen of Consistency--we can always rely on your gutsy racing!
- Gabrielle--you ran with intent and purpose today! This was your breakthrough race of the season!
- Sonja--as a freshman, you're running like a veteran! Keep looking forward and things will continue to go your way!
- Diana--WOW!!! Today we win because of your dogged determination. Without your amazing course improvement and breakthrough performance today, we LOSE! It's that simple...you stepped up to the challenge and assumed that last scoring position.
- Skye--your pacing sense is amazing! The SKYE's the limit...you keep improving--I can hardly wait for the next race!
