You may want to break this up into two runs: 7 in the a.m. and 4.5 in the p.m.
Hit the hills for the morning...don't do the mile warm-up but continue to stretch, to do strides and core exercises. You can meet at the school for the p.m. or run from your house. You might even meet at someone's house for the evening run and and then afterwards order out pizza, bbq or some type of bonding activity--just a suggestion. You might email each other or even write your comments on this post with that in mind. Of course, it's entirely your choice.
So, here's the plan for the morning:
A.M. Map is here. 7 miles...This is a tough hill run! You will start with the Art Center run and then continue up St. Katherine to Sacred Heart H.S. The actual hill on St. Katherine is only about .6 mile before it starts to flatten out, so it's not that long. It is, however, really, really HARD! Try to do this without stopping! Captains: Please let me know how many people were able to do this. As it flattens out, you'll be glad it does as you'll need that looooong downhill (go extra slowly!!) all the way down to Highland Ave.--you will be fully recovered by that time. Take Highland all way back home finishing up over the Highland/Linda Vista Bridge and back to school. Please look at the map. It's not that hard to follow.
P.M. run: 4.5 miles...If you need to run at school, here's a good recovery type of run. Finish with a 3-4 lap jog on the track to get the full distance.
Will someone please share with me how the Sacred Heart run went? Any problems getting up there? Steep, huh?
ReplyDeleteHey this is johnny,
ReplyDeleteSo for the boys 10 guys made it up to the top! Not bad turnout, but St. Katherine was pretty brutal felt like a good workout
