Rio Hondo League Champions!

I'm extremely proud of the way each one of you ran yesterday.

JV. You guys faced a tough team in South Pas. It was a wild race. Ups and down. It went out crazy slow and then quickly separated to a while lotta red&gold and a whole lotta orange &black. They came away with the victory, but it very easily could have gone the other way. We had a very close team spread over the end of the race. And very seldom will a team walk away with 4,5,6, 7 and not win. Keep in mind your racing a team with 30+ runners out there. I'm proud of the way you faced the challenge to take 2nd place in league with 4 runners in the top 7!

SophFrosh. Running sick, Brendan Greene still managed to take the individual sophfrosh title, but wait... don't think that was the only deciding factor in your teams stunning victory. It was a hard fought win with a pack of South Pas and a pack of La Canada all cruising through the one mile mark together. But in the end, it takes every man out there and you delivered! Between Thomas (-48), Jonah (-60), Brandon (-34) and Jonathon (-40), our top 2-5 guys PR'd......
...by over 3 minutes!

Varsity. What can I say, you guys went out hard and kept the pressure on all the way to the finish. Last league meet we slowed down the first mile and gave them a little too much at the end. Aayush went after the W, taking the field out in 5:27 and the rest of you came through in 5:32-5:35. After some great team running on the backside hill you came back down after the 2 mile mark with fire in your eyes and pushed the pace all the way to the tape. Take pride in the result:

-5 runners under 17!
-5 runners in the top 7!
-A 35 second spread!
-First team all league honors for Aayush, Adam, Andrew, Erick and Johnny!
-Second team all league for Anton and Luke!
-Rio Hondo League Champions for the 6th year in a row!

Workout for today is an easy 5 miler.

The list is long for those I'd like to have continue training. But I have my reasons. The following runners should come today prepared to run.

Aayush
Adam
Andrew F
Erick
Johnny
Anton
Brendan
Thomas
Jonah
Brandon
Luke
Kevin
Andrew B

As I stated earlier in the season, if the times are close, I will travel with as many guys as want to still train in the post season. And as the times came down, we now have 6 guys who could run in the 2 alternate spots. Thomas and Jonah ran the fastest times and took the official spots, but you all earned it.

For everyone else, we will be offering a one mile time trial on Monday and a 2 mile time trial on Thursday. This is a great chance to run a PR off of your 3 mile taper and send yourself into the track season with some confidence! Details to follow....
